New President for SA Wrestling Federation

   Dr. Willem Putter

A new era has dawned for the South African Wrestling Federation with the election of dr Willlem Putter as the new president of the South African Wrestling Federation. Mr. Dave van der Merwe retired as president after serving in the management of wrestling for almost 2 decades.

Cobus Minnaar, the former head coach of the Federation was elected in the post of vise-president in the place of dr Putter. Sakkie Bosse and Faizel van Wyk remained in their vise-president posts.

The veteran administrator, Mr Manie van der Berg, was unopposed as the Secretary General and will be accompanied by  a  new  treasurer  Mr Pieter Smith.

The rest of the executive consists of a dinamic team with a number of new faces.

The new managment: President:  Dr  Willem Putter (Gauteng North); Vice-presidents:    Mr   Sakkie   Bosse (Western    Province),       Mr   Cobus Minaar   (Gauteng North),     Mr Faizel van    Wyk    (Eastern    Province); Secretary-General: Mr Manie  van den Berg (Mpumalanga); Honorary-president:  Mr Jannie Taljard (North West);  Assistant-secretaries: Ms Corrie Muller (Gauteng East),  Mr Hennie van  Heerden     (North  West);Treasurer: Mr Pieter  Smith  (Limpopo); Assistant-Treasurer: Ms Anna Addinall (Gauteng East). Coaches: Mr Nico Coetzee (Gauteng East); Referees: Mr Charles Villet (Central Gauteng); Team Managers: Mr Leon Faasen (Central Gauteng); Funding: Mr Ravindren Naidoo (Gauteng East); Marketing: Ms Marga Odendaal (Gauteng North); Medical: Mr Pat van der Merwe (Western Province); Development: Mr Jan Bezuidenhout (Northern Freestate).

 

 

Congratulations to Dr Willem Putter with the appointment by FILA as Representative for Grappling in African.

The General Assembly of the African Council (CALA) was held in Casablanca on 14 May 2009.
